Clarence Gunn - President
Greetings and Welcome to Democrats for Diversity and Inclusion (DDI) 2025!
DDI President’s Message 2025.
Oh, what a year! 2024 was a year for the books. First, the reemergence of a Trump Presidential bid, then the sudden withdrawal of the Biden campaign which led to the Harris Walz campaign. On the state level Bob Ferguson had a real Republican opponent for governor, and so did Dave Upthegrove for Washington Public Lands Commissioner. We also had 4 ballot measures making it to the November General Election.
Well, we learned we must fight for every vote. We learned we must connect directly with people and follow up personally with every voter to ensure they are heard and their issues and concerns addressed. DDI will lead the way to build back a Better, Stronger, more Resilient and Dynamic Democratic Party.
DDI’s Core Mission is stated in our Mission Statement:
“…fight for the right of historically disenfranchised communities to be represented by diverse elected and appointed Democratic officials at the local, state and federal levels.”
DDI is fighting in each and every community, every neighborhood, every legislative district, city and county, as well as the Legislature to make sure the issues and concerns impacting our communities are heard and addressed.
DDI is fighting to make sure each and every elected official is reflective, and representative of the community they are elected from. Not only that but they must be vigilant in their role to seek out and truly hear the voices and issues and concerns, they must actively and assertively address those on a regular basis. Additionally, these elected officials must be committed to fighting for diversity and inclusion at every level to ensure that all barriers are removed and replaced with acceptance.
At DDI, we are fighting to ensure the Democratic Party leadership is reflective, and representative of the community they represent. Democratic Party leaders are also expected to be vigilant in their role to seek out and truly hear the voices, issues, and concerns and actively and assertively work with marginalized communities ensuring that their elected officials will address the community issues and concerns on a regular basis. It goes without saying, these Democratic Party leaders must be committed to fighting for diversity, inclusion and equity at every level.
There is much to do but if WE fight for these three principles together, we will build back a better, stronger, more resilient and dynamic Democratic Party that represents the real needs and concerns of the citizens and residents, in each and every community, city, county, throughout the country.
If you believe in these principles, then join the fight. The fight will not be won by the weak. The fight will not be quick or easy. The fight will be an everlasting push to expand beyond what we are, but to be brave and push for the ideals of recognition, inclusion, and equity of ALL in order to achieve “… a more perfect union.”
Join the fight, join DDI TODAY!
